Has anyone got advice on explaining to autistic adult how to stay safe on social media.
Has anyone got advice on explaining to autistic adult how to stay safe on social media.
I was severely bullied & slandered on Facebook back in 2013 & then most recently again on TikTok, terrible disgusting slanders against from people who don't even know me, even showing my face only led to some sick trolls using my pics as their own profile pics.
Earlier this week, my family came across my account & were absolutely horrified to discover the hate & abuse I was getting & the impact that it was having on my mental health & wellbeing as well as on my elderly mother who put in a few appearances on my page speaking up to haters.
After my family came across my page, I was advised to come off the app & I have done exactly that, but now I feel socially isolated as I have been completely housebound for almost three years & the only friends I had were on there, because I am not going to lie, whilst I had a lot of haters & slanderers on there, there were people on there who were genuine good friends to me, but when I suggested to my family to quickly pop back on just to message a selected few good friends that I had on there, my email address as it would be the only way we can keep in touch now, my family strongly advised me against it telling me that they would never be my true friends for life, & the only solution is to get myself walking again & join groups or clubs for adults whom have autism like myself as it's friends whom are on the same wavelength as myself who'll be my true friends for life.
I actually do value that advice but still miss the genuine friends whom were decent to me on TikTok.
So now I face a dilemma, decency or wavelength.
& in answer to your question about staying safe on social media?
Speaking from experience here, my simple answer is that you actually can't, you'll always come across haters no matter what.
Sad world we all live in these days, but it's true.
