I have just seen an article regarding this recent news. Apparently the reason for it is, unlike for example hip replacements, there is no cap on the charge for assessments and NHS services are using up the money allocated. They are now looking at capping the cost. Hopefully this will happen soon. One paper commented that a private service is more likely to diagnose as they are being paid. Hopefully this will be set up soon to safeguard this important service.
