Struggling

I am struggling. I've been in autistic burnout for 3 years. I don't work, I'm not in education, I've tried volunteering but I can't keep going I get so exhausted. I have no friends or family. I live alone. My house is a mess, unhygienic. I just don't have the energy. I don't see the point. I go from one day to the next doing the bare minimum to get through. I don't know what to do. It's frustrating living like this. I'm just existing.

I just wanted to vent but I'm open to suggestions or to hear from anyone who has been through similar.

  • The mind and body are intimately fused together and I think that the body is easier to get a handle on than the mind, at least initially. There is some evidence that the gut microbiome in autistic people is less diverse than in the allistic population and that this can affect mood, so possibly talking probiotics might help. Another thing is exercise, just walking a mile or so a day might prove useful, the old Roman tag 'mens sana in corporis sano' (a healthy mind in a healthy body) has some truth behind it. The rhythm of walking itself has some therapeutic value.

  • I'll look into prebiotic thanks.

Unfortunately walking a mile or so a day isn't possible currently, maybe in the future. Thanks for the suggestion.
