Struggling

I am struggling. I've been in autistic burnout for 3 years. I don't work, I'm not in education, I've tried volunteering but I can't keep going I get so exhausted. I have no friends or family. I live alone. My house is a mess, unhygienic. I just don't have the energy. I don't see the point. I go from one day to the next doing the bare minimum to get through. I don't know what to do. It's frustrating living like this. I'm just existing.

I just wanted to vent but I'm open to suggestions or to hear from anyone who has been through similar.

  • I'm so sorry you are struggling so badly right now, it must be really awful, and draining in itself.

I hope you can forgive yourself for your situation, you shouldn't feel bad about having no energy, as that will be energy draining.

It can be really hard, but it sounds like you could really do with a tiny easy win, to make yourself feel better. Set your sights on something manageable, like 'I'm going to do the bare minimum + 1 small extra thing'. That way you are always improving your situation, so you can be positive about that. You could even tell us about it, the 'three good things' thread is great for little wins like that, so you can celebrate your little win. It could even just be putting one thing back in the cupboard that was sitting out.

I'm sorry it's not bigger help, but sometimes when you're low and drained, you need to be kind to yourself.

  • Thanks for your reply.

That's hit "you shouldn't feel bad about having no energy, as that will be energy draining"  I will work on that. Its certainly a grief feeling for the life I had/want. That's a good idea thank you.

  • I'm so glad, just coping on your own must be so tough with no support network, you are doing great just by surviving! I'm rooting for you!
