Catastrophising

Does anyone else on this forum always catastrophize upcoming events? I have a pacemaker procedure coming up and, although it’s basically an outpatient appointment and should be straightforward, I keep imagining what could go wrong and it’s really winding me up.

Yes, especially when there is a lot of uncertainty. It is worse if I wake up at night. I try to think of how many positives there are for balance but it isn't easy to switch it off.

Yes, it's much worse at night when you're just lying there with less activity to distract you. I go to bed early hoping to fall asleep quickly, but that often doesn't happen, and I end up going to bed too early and eventually have to get up again.
