Smells that bring joy.

Reading other posts made me think of this. I can smell things from quite a distance and often smell flowers before I have seen them. I have a whole list of unpleasant smells, but when I smell particular flowers outside, I feel a sense of my body taking a deep breath and enjoying the moment. I have a rose bush near my front door that if I keep deadheading flowers from June to September. At the moment the beautiful perfume fills the air as I approach the door and have to slow down to enjoy it.

I like the smell of freshly cut grass, freshly cut wood and the smell when opening a new book for the first time.

Also the musty smells of old books and libraries.

I get the musty smells in old second hand book shops, but libraries have changed. In my travels I make a point of visiting local libraries. In a couple there were women's groups knitting and drinking coffee. My local library had a children's birthday party and the post office has moved into it.
