Hello everyone! Can you still drive? I can no longer process that many stimuli

Hello all and thank you for welcoming me. I have suffered what looks like autistic burnout a year and a half ago and it turns out therefore, that I may be autistic, waiting to be tested. Among many things that happened (brain slowed down to process visual and auditory info, needing predictability, overwhelw from too many stimuli) I have stopped driving because I get exhausted the minute I buckle my seatbelt. Has anyone experienced this? I've researched it and it seems like you can do fine with driving.

Take good care.

  • I do drive, but only on the island and to Bangor, anything east of Bangor and it gets to busy and confusing, I don't even like it as a passenger. Motorway freak me right out and I panic, again I don't like being a passenger in a car on them.

I don't like the gadgets either, Iwent in a friends Tesla once and it had an A4 size screen that was both a satnav and a place to control everything else from, I found it distracting as a passenger, I'd never be able to drive a car like that. Also of course being my technoklutz self, with an electric car I'd probably crash it before ever getting it off the drive
