Oh yes, it could even be the very plane, as it was at Duxford we went to. Their museum is really good too. 

That's some good advice I'll pass on about constructing a support for the biplane during gluing. My husband's display are mostly games workshop models, though he was painting up the models from a board game, mansions of madness (Lovecraft based as you can imagine). He has an airbrush, though it's quite noisy so he hasn't used it much.

The 'Harpist of Keros'.

Made in Parian marble. Early Cycladic II, 2800-2300BCE.

The majority of Cycladic Figurines were designed to lie flat. Musicians like this one are mainly ‘harpists’ and rarely play wind instruments. They were carved in organised workshops equipped with bronze tools.

The ‘harpist’ is seated on an elegant throne. The stringed instrument is a lyre or a harp (trigonon).

The creativity belongs to the sculptor. I took this shot through glass in poor light.

It really is! I've yet to branch out into planes and vehicles, though. Gundam kits are just cheaper

The Crossbone Gundam X1 (HG 1/144 scale) was the last kit I made, that was around May-June-ish

They're fab Jamesmac making and displaying models is a great special interest!

My favourite is the Shining Gundam, which I own in 1/144 scale, MG (1/100) scale and SD scale!

Thanks Cinnabar_wing yes painstaking indeed - I was kind off egged on to it tho' as this and another ended up a presentation to RAF 56sqn - yes, I use an airbrush for most of the big areas and a "hairy stick" for finer work  *the letters and numbers etc are "waterslide transfers" that come with the kit normally .  What a fab thing to do to have time in a tiger moth :-) I agree tho' that biplanes are a bit of an acquired skill to model - those thin "struts" that separate the wings are tricky to glue - because they wobble about when the upper wing is put on until the glue sets - to get over this I use a "jig" to get them in place - made to size from cardboard to support the pieces while the glue sets.

Wow, that's really impressive to do the rigging too, it adds a whole other level of finish, but it must be so painstaking to get it right!

Fittingly, his is a tiger moth bi-plane, though after 16 years it is still in the box as he said the pieces didn't really go together well. (It was meant to be a momento for an experience day flight).

I don‘t particularly like the tree in general and experimented with different colours and shades. But by the time I realised there was no saving it, it was too late to paint over it without having to redo a whole section. My main goal was to somewhat finish the painting since I struggle with filling so much empty space.

Yeah, it‘s partly the angle, but they are in fact pretty asymmetrical. They were alright in the sketch but at some point… I don‘t know what happened.

I love this, the river cutting through the middle looks dramatic.

My eyes aren't up to doing the craftwork I'd like, so my visual creativity has been confined to image manipulation. Here's a photo of mine of Symond's Yat in Gloucestershire, close to where I used to live, made to look like an impressionist painting.

hehe - I've seen images of festivals in Asia when the elephants are the canvases!  Lots of elephant sculptures in our house as they are a favourite of my too :-)

Beautiful contrast in the colors I like the painting a lot! Only I'm not sure if it's a photo taken on an angle or the elephants eyes are not on the same level?

Thank you Cinnabar_wing I have a couple of small biplanes that I have (temporarily - maybe...) given up on too - I am daft enough to insist on modelling the rigging wires and that is sooooooo fiddly :-)   Glad to remind you of your dad's collection.
