Library Assistant Job

Hi there 

I have an interview coming up for a library assistant. I am wondering if anyone has ever worked or is working in a library as an assistant or another role?

I am currently working in a large retail store (I know!) so I'm thinking a library has to be less sensory by far. I know they have children in and groups etc. 

Any advice or what an average day is like in a library will be really helpful.

  • Hi there, I work in a university library so my environment is a little different. However, I would say that library work is primarily customer service and comes with the usual sensory issues that may follow with that. It sounds like your background in retail is likely even more of a stressor though, so although library work isn't as peaceful as people think, it hopefully will still be more suited to you.
