Library Assistant Job

Hi there 

I have an interview coming up for a library assistant. I am wondering if anyone has ever worked or is working in a library as an assistant or another role?

I am currently working in a large retail store (I know!) so I'm thinking a library has to be less sensory by far. I know they have children in and groups etc. 

Any advice or what an average day is like in a library will be really helpful.

  • I used to work regularly in an office near our library. The noisiest time was half an hour once a week when they had baby rhyme time complete with instruments. That was noisy, but only lasted half an hour. The other noisy thing in the building was the weekly alarm test, but it was always at the same time.
