As the Nature thread is rather slow to load now as it's a bit cumbersome, and as threads are locked after 6 months, I thought I'd start a thread for the wonderful 'season of mists and mellow fruitfulness' rather early, as it's not the 1st September yet.

I don't think I've ever been so glad to get one season kicked out the door and see another arrive.

Please share anything autumnal.

I will upload a photo or two when I find them.

  • It's been misty and dreich, and I was about to put music on and empty the dishwasher, when out the open window I heard the rain break and start falling with purpose. And then underneath, I could hear a frog croak with joy that rain had come. You don't normally hear them this time of year, but it is proper frog rain, and I think they were grateful for it. So I stood and listened to it by the back door instead, the giddy sound of the downpour percussion, with the blue *** trilling an overture and the rooks laughing, though the frog has fallen silent again.
