Autumn/Fall

As the Nature thread is rather slow to load now as it's a bit cumbersome, and as threads are locked after 6 months, I thought I'd start a thread for the wonderful 'season of mists and mellow fruitfulness' rather early, as it's not the 1st September yet.

I don't think I've ever been so glad to get one season kicked out the door and see another arrive.

Please share anything autumnal.

I will upload a photo or two when I find them.

  • Out autumn-fruiting raspberry canes jump-started in the spring this year, but have suffered terrible the past few months due to the lack of rain, so alas we've had to dead-head them now as all the remaining berries had shrivelled up long before they could ripen. Disappointed

Meanwhile, the trees in the park across the road from us have been aborting their seeds, again due to lack of rain, so some autumnal colour already on the ground even as the trees themselves remain green.

On a positive note, however, we cleared out all the debris from the drainage channel at the front of our driveway, and that will help boost our reserve of compost. Slight smile Now we just need some prolonged rainfall so the ground is soaked enough… Cloud rain
