Hi there I tried calling but couldn’t get through, my we girl is 13 years of age and was diagnosed with Autism and AdHd about 1 year and 6 months ago, she really struggled with end of primary and could only make it in until lunchtime. 

last year at high school she’s only been in from 9am to 1pm every day if can get her there. Sometimes doesn’t go in at all and stands outside really upset. Tells me we don’t understand how she’s felling and doesn’t want to be there, can anyone point me in the right direction with trying to get her some help with this. 

  • Hi Markboy and thanks for reaching out.  I am so sorry to hear that your daughter is having a hard time at school at the moment - school can be tough for any child, and for neurodivergent kids even more so!  It's wonderful that she has a parent like you though, who is doing their best to support her.

    Finishing primary school and starting secondary school can also be a difficult time for autistic children, as it is a very big change.  We have pages on Transitions including switching schools, tailored depending on what area of the UK you are in.
