Looking for support and how to move forward

Hello everyone,

I just want to say it is a relief to find such a group with all this information. I am a 38 years old working professional.

I have been reading a lot this year about this, mainly as my son’s school mentioned that he may have ASD, and reading up on peoples stories about lack of connection, failed friendships, constantly rehearing social interaction before and after they have happened, stemming (I used to do it when playing computers)

As a teenager, I struggled with friend groups but never understood why. It is like the initial friend making goes ok, it is just that after they all seem to pull away and have less and less to do with me. I have always considered myself kind, honest, and I believe I hold strong moral values, so I never really understood why I was struggling like this, and would always be thinking about social situations trying to understand if I said or did something wrong.

For years it has upset me, I have felt left out, like im a bad person and that’s why people dislike me. It also breaks my heart to think  of my son going through the same issues as me.

I am looking for a support group, perhaps some zoom meetings to build connections and for me to be able to offer support to.

Finally, I have not been diagnosed, and suffered a head injury when I was 17 . However I believe the symptoms were there before my injury.
