Post ASD Diagnosis and Benefits Applications advice.

Hey all.

I have recently received my post ASD assessment through the NHS and looking for some advice on how to apply for PIPS etc.

I have the support letters detailing my ASD diagnosis.  Can I use other info when applying for PIPS such as

- Copy of my medical records detailing IBS, possible OCD symptoms, past bouts of depression and anxiety.

- Therapists letter stating when I started talking therapies (CBT and ERP)

What other info could I use to back my claim?

I have either worked or studied all my adult life.

I have never applied for benefits before as I have only been recently diagnosed with ASD (42 year old Male).

Any info would be great.

I would like to say again how great it is to be part of this community.

Thanks all

  • I did get a PIP renewal form sent to me in around July 2024. I followed the forms advice I linked to and sent the forms away. I sent medical evidence that I had from my GP to and this included any letters about my conditions a photocopy. You have to write your national insurance number and case reference on each page of letter. I didn't use the forms. I sent in A4 paper and copied the questions as I found it easier and printed it all out. They said I could do this. I had other conditions at that point. I had very severe anorexia then to and complications which was chronic.

You had anxiety and other conditions and should note to and send evidence about them. Although you may be diagnosed with autism you still can have the anxiety with it, so you should note it.
