Private Diagnosis?

Hi there

Wondered if I could ask some advice please?

My husband has been referred through the NHS for a full ASD assessment. He's really struggling, and the waiting time for the initial assessment is over 3 years, so we are thinking about going privately.

My concern is that if he is prescribed any medication, will the NHS honour the private assessment? I have contacted a place listed on the National Austic Society directory, but just wondered if people had good or bad experiences going privately.

Thankyou in advance for all help and advice recieved.

  • For my NHS test I was put on the priority list because I had a need for it. If the need is great you can communicate with the ASD team and they could to if judged as needed perhaps put your husband on a priority list for testing. I was told the wait for about 4 years but I got seen about three months after I went on the priority list. Why did I go on I had severe anorexia and there was a real chance at that time that I might live another four years. Other people might go on it for other reasons.
