Crazy shift at work and a manager than wanted more from me.

So my work place dose know that I am autistic and there set up stuff to help me with it like having my loop ear plugs in when over whelmed allowing me to have my figit spinner and been allowed in the back to pot wash when over whelmed. But despite that, I feel like my autism was ignored and that as a person I was treated like my efforts was not even good enough, despite working my ass off, and running around while trying not to get burnt out which I was very close to doing.

The shift started of well, it was not too busy and I just did my job, then there was a quite moment where I did the pot wash hand over and the other staff restocked and changed the bins. At that time the next manager came in and saw me in the back sorting out the pot wash and training a new cashier how to do it.

As it picked up I started to work harder, making sure ice cream machine was topped up, kept on top of cutlery, and kept pushing stuff though pot wash, cleared  tables, dealt with customer request, answered the phone, sat customers down, did check backs and sweapt the floor, running food.

The Supervisor said I was doing a smashing job, the supervisor was visibley angry and frusrated, we where all was, but I was hiding mine. Even the manager was visabily angry and frustrated.

And I asked  him if I could go to the toilet, and he said is everything ok, I thought notthing of it, just told him yeah just a little overwelemed and he dismised it by saying somthing along the line of you can't be overwellmed or that we are all overwelmed but you still need to do more, I've not seen  you all day. I told him all the jobs I've done and he said well I've been on grills, tills and host and take aways, I need you to work a bit harder.

This made me feel worthless that all my hard work means notthing to me. How much more work could I have done, my heart was racing, my breathing laboured, feeling dissy, and heart burn, and still I was not working hard enough in his books.

When it came to finishing my shift I asked him if I could finish, he said notthing as he put food on the grill, I asked again after he did that and still nothing. So I put the last lot of stuff in the pot wash and clocked out and went home.

I expect to get a documented chat over this for getting angry as I went to the  toilet taking of my apron in a fit of rage, for not working hard enough and for not been seen working hard enough by the manager.

I've written everything down to argue this if it comes to it along with telling to watch the CCTV and tell me I was not working hard enough. If I do get this documented chat over this I will be speeking the Citizen advise buruo about what I can do and to make sure that the manager on shift that ignored or dismissed my autsium, dismissed my work and wanted more from me, gets in to so much trouble he will be writting a letter of an appoligy.

After my hoilday I will be putting in motion to start looking for work else where, weather I give a 2 weeks notice or not is dependent on how there make me feel.

  • So the boss appogised for yesterday and he explained why he said what he said and I expleained why I did what I did, eg why it looked like I spent a lot of time in the back kitchen compare to other staff.

Then I told another manager about a new trigger that explain why I get overwelemed stright away.

But then it left to me spending over an hour getting a documented chat about somthing else, including old stuff that I thought was unjust.

Which left me feeling alone and broken, now I'm starting to think that work is trying to get rid of me by disaplining me on every little thing. But having said that if there did that and sacked me I know I could take them to an industral triburnal and win for unfair dismissle as the companys own paper work would show a targgeted attack that is not normal.

But there is plans in motion for me to start looking for work in September after getting all my ducks in a row sorted.

But it has left me feeling so emotionally and mentally drained now. Try to think happy thoughts.

  • That sucks, and sadly is a story that seems to crop up again and again here: employers making lives impossible and trying to force them out, then having to take them to a tribunal.

I hope you can do something that gives you energy just now, or at least doesn't drain you like work does.

    Wishing you better.
