Participants wanted: How are autistic traits responded to in eating disorder treatment?

Researchers at the University of Sheffield are looking for participants to take part in research exploring the experiences of individuals diagnosed with autism following treatment for a restrictive eating disorder. The research team includes Elle Pemberton (the lead researcher), Professor John Fox and Professor Elizabeth Milne. 

You can take part if you:

• were assigned female at birth (AFAB)
• have previously completed treatment for a restrictive eating disorder
• were diagnosed as autistic after being discharged from eating disorder treatment 
• are at least 16 years old

Restrictive eating disorders include:

• anorexia nervosa
• atypical anorexia nervosa
• avoidant restrictive food intake disorder

You are also welcome to take part if you were diagnosed with any of the following and consider your eating disorder to be primarily characterised by restricting or avoiding food:

• other specified feeding or eating disorder
• unspecified feeding or eating disorder
• eating disorder not otherwise specified

Taking part will involve:

• completing questionnaires (approximately 1 hour)
• an interview, either online or in person at the University of Sheffield (approximately 1 hour)

Eligible participants who complete the questionnaires will be invited to interview and receive a £40 Amazon voucher upon completion.
