I am undiagnosed, but after the first stage am on the waiting list and am female.
I am in sixties, I am not single now, so have support. Things have got worse since getting to my sixties. I had a huge struggle last year when my husband had an operation that meant he was limited for quite a while. Since then I had a burnout, which after I improved am now struggling to get back to working as before. Fortunately my employer has supported what I am able to do at the moment. I have gradually reduced my hours, but state retirement age is more than 3 years away and I have wondered often whether I can keep going to the later retirement age than expected when I started working..

I did wonder how many other women were in my situation bearing in mind how few girls are diagnosed at a young age. I worked with children so have experienced this first hand. Considering how many women learn to mask so well but then hit the menopause and age related changes and losses I would expect there to be many. Especially if they are also divorced. It’s good that you have support. Your diagnosis will definitely help you with understanding where you are it and how well you have managed your own autism throughout your lifetime. I just wish they hadn’t increased the pension age. It just makes it longer to have to cope! I hope you get your answers soon
