Respect

I think it's somewhat lacking these days.

I see a lack of it everywhere:

The way people relate to one another

The way people drive

The rubbish thrown away in public spaces

The trashing of our natural environment

The shouty politics

Cruelty to wildlife

What do you think?

I personally think the world would be a much better place if respect for everyone and everything, however different to us, and different their views (if human) were taught to children so that they could grow up to be respectful people.

  • Respect and consideration for others are increasingly diminishing.

Many politicians don’t debate; they try to score points and don’t seek to move an issue forward.

Fly tipping is a huge problem not too far from where I live and people throw plastic waste out of their cars so it’s lining the the sides of the road. The financial cost to the public is likely significant, not to mention the detrimental impact on public wellbeing, the harm to wildlife and the environment.

Yes, it’s cruelty to wildlife as many animals haven’t evolved to deal with plastic getting caught like a noose around their necks, as happens to seals, swans and other species. The evolution of modern plastics and other ‘disposable’ materials has contributed to the issue even though it isn’t a direct cause.

Then there’s space junk which could become a risk to our planet and species in ways that aren’t fully understood yet.

Respect and consideration could save our environment and the world from destruction.

Indeed but it takes companies and governments, not just individuals, to effect really major change, sadly.
