How do you deal with forced social events?

  1. I spent the afternoon at a birthday party with my little girl and all her friends. I hate them. All the parents sit around talking and I just can't seem to make it into the conversations. People just turn away from me. I spend the whole time just sat on my own trying to deal with the noises from 20 screaming hyped up kids!

  • Handing you virtual paracetamol for the head ache from listening to 20 screaming kids.

I used to make sure there was wine for the adults, its the only way to cope with a room full of small children. I don't know how I coped to be honest, often I'd take a book, even if I couldn't concentrate on it and if the other mums looked askance then it was their problem seeing as they didn't really want to talk to me anyway.

Now I don't go to any social event, especially large ones.
