Being autistic in dreams.

Just had my first dream where I was autistic. I couldn't speak in front of group, I crashed into car, I was mistaken for stalking a couple and I got shouted at my someone and couldn't reply just kept looking at them.

This is my first dream like this and I think its a great and positive sign. Just wonder if other people are autistic in there dreams and what experiences you have in them. Thanks.

  • Lately I've had dreams where I'm more Autistic, when in reality I just internalised the struggles but in the dreams I'm like screaming, throwing a tantrum, so in the dream I'm actually having a meltdown cos in reality I shutdown. I'm still learning about myself & self acceptance which is a struggle but yeah I've had those kinds of dreams.

  • I constantly have dreams about collecting dolls. I do have a collection of dolls. It grows slowly, every doll is a careful choice. Every doll has her soul. They are my friends. They don't lie or plot against me or each other. I take care of them, so they have nice clothes. Each one is different and original with various facial features and skin colors. So I see them often in my dreams. Dolls accompany me since my adolescence,  when I craved friends but was unable to find them. I was bullied and isolated. Only dolls gave me good company. I have a photo of them in my profile and I've got more photos saved.

Ps I don't know if it's autistic. These are just my dreams, it's just me.

  • I had a dream about my special interests and there was a plane model in a box that I wanted to buy.  My mum wouldn't let me buy it because there was a German flag on the box.  I befriended an autistic 7 year old girl who looked like the young Ringo Starr.  It got to the point that I was spending twice as much time with that girl as I was my own family.  In the end, my mum let me buy the plane.

  • I recently dreamt that I told someone that I was autistic. I cannot recall what situation I was in within the dream, however. Some things in dreams mirror the truth, others do not; one such dream was where I was Charlemagne berating some soldiers for slackness, another, very strange one, was where I was a being with many appendages, like an octopus, but not an octopus, I could remember the feeling of radiating outwards and having many sensations in my many limbs when I woke up.

  • Dreams can be related to things that are worrying you, consciously or sub-consciously, or things you have been reading or thinking about.

It can be things your brain is trying to process or plan for.

But they can also be random, so be cautious of over-interpretation.

I rarely have dreams. If I do, they are fragmented and based around specific scenes, without any specific traits.

  • ...well, I don't think we dream of being autistic, per-say. We just... are. And in dreams, it's basically the same.
