How would you have reacted.

So I was in a supermarket in my town and I got some tubs of soups, but the top of one of them was broken and leaked into my bag. When I went to do the self-checkout some of it was all over my bag and created a mess. For a few seconds I was like what do I do now, I looked around and found someone to help, which they sorted it out, I then finished paying and left.

This is was difficult and unexpected situation which I dealt with well, but for a few seconds I started to panic. Just wondering how other people on here would have reacted to it? Before I would have got angry and just stood there waiting for someone to see me or I would have just left everything and walked out. Shows a lot of process on my part. Thanks.

  • Oh dear. Is it hard or traumatic for you to process after things like this happen? It was like that when I was younger. I have spent 10 years seeing two therapists to rebuild my psyche to support how I react to stress. So that's been a massive help for me. I can still have panic attacks or something for like 10 seconds. But after anything bad happens my inner self is like 'you did great there, thank you'. So I feel better. I know a lot of autistic peoples inner selves reacts with angry or bullying when they do things which are stressful.
