Carnivorous plants and Tarantulas

Hi! I started a couple of years ago with one Sarracenia from a car boot sale, it survived the winter so last year I got some different varieties/species and have been fascinated ever since. I check them every day to see what they are up to... excited to have a first Sarracenia flower...

I have a couple of sundews - binata & capensis, darlingtonia, nepenthes and some more colourful Sarras.

I chucked last years capensis seed heads in a pot and am amazed to see hundreds of miniscule plants now.

The Cephalotus look stunning but do seem a bit more advanced, are they indoors only like the nepenthes?

Sarracenia have interesting flowers. The plants look like they won't be that gardt, but they can be frozen and buried is snow and survive. They have the at RHS Wisley in the rockery, plus there were quite a few at the Eden Project. All outdoors.

I tried a sundew, it flowered then died (small white flowers on a 30cm stalk). Not sure what I did wrong. 

I had 2 nepenthes but they dried out one time and died. I'm not so good with things that need to be wet all the time.

I think it feels good to have rescued something. I have just pruned the top off, hopefully it will be ok.

Nice save with the plants. Usually get some bargains around september in the bargain bin.

They look happy little plants. :-)

The nepenthes will just keep growing and get large if you want it too.

Yes! I think the Sarracenia purpurea I have are native to Canada so need a cold overwinter. I haven't yet seen one of those large displays.

The sundew may have put the last of its energy into flowering, I have started to cut the new flowers off most things, especially the dionea.

The nepenthes are amazing but do need that extra work being inside.

I rescued these from a garden centre, they were half dead and being given away. Thriving now
