Autism and working

Hello, everyone

It has been a long while since I last posted on here, I have come to ask for advice and see if anyone else has experience in what I am experiencing. I have been wanting to find a career and learn a skill to use, But everyone time I figure something I may wanna learn or have a career in, my mind over thinks and puts scenarios in my mind which end up depressing me and makes me change my mind.

I suffer with OCD, ADHD, Autism and dyslexia, I do have some things other than that but I don't wanna mention them all. I am wondering if anyone has ever suffered from this mind set and has overcome it or perhaps found some techniques that work for them. I have always been into tech and I am more rounded to do stuff with my hands. I would have tried to learn how to drive a lorry, but sadly not a lot of compares allow dogs or pets in the cabs.

  • Good morning from America, Erwin!

Oh yeah, I overthink what I’m capable of, as well. In times like those it’s good to have on hand someone you can trust to keep you grounded, like a friend or a job coach. Having someone else keep you in line when you doubt yourself is very handy.

Have you considered farm work? I don’t know how readily available farm work is in the UK, but that would be working with your hands a lot and you’d be driving farm equipment (and as a bonus, maybe they’d allow you to take your pet to the farm? Idk)

  • Dear Erwin,

Thank you for your post and welcome back. Hopefully members will be here to share personal experiences but in the meantime may I direct you to the employment advice and guidance section. Please find the link here:
