Questioning my diagnosis

Hi

It's 2 weeks since my diagnosis which followed years of researching ASD and I related so, so much to everything I read.

And now... I kind of dont! On hearing the diagnosis there was huge relief and i finally felt understood and seen. But now im questioning if I am actually autistic or if I just fooled the assessors.

Is this normal?

  • Hi Kat,

I think this is a completely normal thought to have, getting a diagnosis is a huge life event, and it can take a lot of time to process. To be totally honest with you there are occasionally days where I would have an odd little voice in the back of my head, saying "are you sure you have this?", normally after a social event, or something I usually struggle to do, but on that occasion has went pretty well. As others have said, it is called imposter syndrome, and it is a very common thing to experience.
