I met another autistic person!

Obviously I have met other autistic people in my life, this was my first conversation with someone I knew was autistic.

My wife was contacted by an ex work colleague, she and her husband were in Cornwall  looking at the area with a view to moving there. They wanted to know how we had gone about it.

They arrived and the usual small talk went on, I tried my best to mask, they said that their adult autistic son had stayed at home, I mentioned I was diagnosed last year with autism, she replied that she sensed  I was on the spectrum when they arrived, i replied that I sensed she was also. She then told me she was diagnosed AUDHD last year, she started to cry and I must say I choked up as well.

We had a brilliant conversation and didn’t have to hide anything, it was strange being able to discuss autism without any negative comments., to meet someone else in their 50,s who just understood was quite uplifting
They left after a couple of hours, she asked if I wanted to hug when the goodbyes were happening, I said no. We both smiled and shook hands.

Just wanted to share a positive experience.
