Blue Badge Scheme and Autism

I have problems with parking my car in car parks. The busyness and trying to make a decision causes me a lot of anxiety and overwhelm.
Often I will drive back home as it all becomes too stressful.

Are autistic people eligible for a blue badge? I have thought of applying but then imposter syndrome takes over and I then think I’m not entitled as I suppose I don’t look disabled. It’s affecting how I can go out, if I do find a space that someone else isn’t vying for, my brain is then scrabbled and then I most probably do half of the tasks I set out to do. Has anyone else applied ?

  • Understand your situation  - but I'm not sure what the impact would be on insurance

I mean last year I had to declare my ND on my travel insurance and the premium went up.

Plus if your Autism impacts your driving (like it does for you) the you should inform DVLA as far as I understand.

How insurances find this out ? or if there's any questions re blue badge ?- I can't remember.  But if they can find out, then I expect the insurance premium would go up.
