Ironically after reading about someone else’s experience with this I had my account blocked, the flagged content email etc.
i contacted the community moderator but had a lacklustre response saying they can’t do anything. I feel it’s important to raise this beyond just accepting it as one of those things. I am not being directly critical of the community moderator here but I don’t feel this should be left here. I accept there will be some here who consider me reacting out of proportion but I know how badly this can affect vulnerable people. I include me in that. As a result I hardly slept all night and I suffered rejection thoughts and guilt I’d said or done something wrong. I even considered deleting my account and going elsewhere. Is this the welcome we should accept in a community intended for support?
what I suggested was add this rate limit information on moderation accounts somewhere. In the forum community rules or a pinned post or the welcome message we all get. I don’t accept the email and onscreen wording can’t be changed. Of course it can be. Having had professional experience with moderated forums as a software engineer I know these are things that can change if there is desire or money. It may be true the exact person who replied to me can’t do it due to permissions or knowledge. But it absolutely can be improved in many ways as I’ve outlined.
I’m not getting any enjoyment about raising this here. Id rather not need to do it.
if the community moderator or NAS wish to engage in me so I can support improvements here I’m more than willing.
Their and my response to it, both unedited, shown below. -
Thank you for the reply. However I think that changing the wording is vital. I’m always conscious when someone says “ Unfortunately, we are not able to change the wording of this automated email.”. What you mean is you won’t or don’t have the knowledge to.

Hi SteveThank you for getting in touch, and I’m really sorry for the worry this has caused. To help keep our Online Community safe, welcoming and free from spam, all new accounts are briefly moderated when they first join. This means the first few posts are held for review while moderators check that the account is genuine and not a bot or spam account. If a new member posts three or more times before moderation has been lifted, the system automatically sends an email saying their account has been flagged as inappropriate. This wording is confusing and inaccurate. Your account has not been flagged for inappropriate content. Instead, it has simply come up against an automated system limit related to unapproved posts on new accounts. Unfortunately, we are not able to change the wording of this automated email. Our moderation queue is checked by staff Monday to Friday during working hours. Accounts created in the evening or over the weekend will be reviewed on the next working day. If several posts are made during that time, the automated email may be triggered even though nothing has been done wrong.I can confirm that your account is no longer being moderated and your posts have now been approved. You are free to post and reply as normal. Please accept our apologies for the confusion and inconvenience this has caused.Kind regards,Community Moderator
