Telling family members

Hi I am new on here . At the end of 2025 after getting in contact with my GP I am now on the waiting list for an assessment. Only a couple of family members know . One of told me they think I am autistic.

I am 34 and due to a few reasons I am living with my parents at the moment . I have not yet told them and don’t know how . I wondered if anyone had an experience of talking to family members .

Parents
  • It was my sister who first broached the subject to both myself and my parents, she worked as a primary school teacher for many years and has experience dealing with kids on the spectrum so she suspected I might be too.

If possible, have those family members who already know present so they can back you up when you talk with your parents.

I wish you best of you with your assessment process.
