Has anyone tried any of those non-jobcentre back-to-work schemes?
The social prescriber at the doctors referred me to one of the local ones called 'Connect to Work'. I was really enthusiastic about this, until they actually telephoned me and told me they like to do multiple ridiculously long telephone appointments before meeting you in public in the library.
I'm going to assume that this is "for my convenience" but I'm interpreting it to mean that they are too tight to have their own office where they can see people in private. I'm not getting my hopes up.
For those wondering, these schemes are completely voluntary and don't affect your benefits, and are intended to help people who have been out of work for a long time and have disadvantages like medical problems, criminal backgrounds, domestic abuse, homeless, etc etc.
