Spring photos + spring whatever

I'm going to attempt to open a thread and hope it won't break.

Please share your images of spring or anything connected.

Images need to be less than 1mb in size.

Please don't add text to the photo as that is an identified way to break a thread.

You could always do another post with text.

So, anything spring related please.

Here is my starter:

Spring is sprung

The grass is riz

I wonder where the birdies is

The bird is on the wing

But that's absurd.

The wing is on the bird

I learnt this as a small child.

With thanks to  for the inspiration (which reminds me of a Leonard Cohen song).

Parents
  • The importance of some of our flowers for butterflies.

I recently bought some sweet violets online as I couldn't find them in garden centres.

    www.bbc.co.uk/.../c75kk7p41npo

  • 'The pearl-bordered fritillary, a striking orange-and-black butterfly whose caterpillars feed only on violets, has declined by 70%.'

  • Oh I quoted that too as it caught my eye as well. Sad statistics. I'm going to look up what flower species might be good for my area caterpillars (as ranges will be important). We dig up the nettles from most areas in the garden but we always keep a really good patch by the hedge as I know how important they can be too.

It's so complicated, as for a while they kept saying all these non-native flowers are great for bees for being nectar rich, but after seeing episode 2 of wild gardens, you can see the butterflies are suffering for lack of native plants for their caterpillars.

I did grow caterpillars one year. Well we tried to grow some broccoli anyway...
