Hi. Question (specifically aimed at Autistic Women but open for anyone to respond): Were any of you diagnosed under the age of 10 in the UK before 2004?
I'm inquiring about this because I'm conducting research on the early diagnosis of Autism in women and girls during the late 90s / early 2000s. I'm an Autistic woman who was diagnosed on October 10th, 2003, at the age of 9 (my autism assessments began in 1998 when I was 4 years old) - they told me I was an "early case". I often receive the question, "How were you diagnosed so early?" and I always reply with, "I really don't know," which makes me curious about the studies and statistics regarding formal diagnoses for women and girls in the UK during the late 90s / early 2000s.
