Wow. Young people are getting mean

I don't know if I am getting too kind in my old age or just soft, everything seems kind of agressive and based on lies. I am always curious to know others vibes of the times we live through, I suppose this is all a normal part of aging and the World is on a kind of endless repeat with minor improvements.

  • Because I'm often out walking with my dog at a time when the school buses drop off young people we're sort of used to seeing each other and many are friendly and say hello, other will stop and make a fuss of Fearn. I don't feel threatened by them, but almost the opposite, if I see them in the park or somewhere. It's the arrogance of adult tourists I fear, they come across as so entitled and rude and are often unfriendly and hostile.

  • Yes I agree with you on tourists. The UK is a playground. We are effectively living where most of the World wants to be Joy

  • It's not foreign touists who are the problem, but English people, the attitude of so many is colonial, it's like they think they have a right to do what they want when they want and no one local is allowed to ask them to stop. I've even had one lot insist that my house is an airB&B and when I finally convinced them that it's my parents home, the bloke tried to buy it and got really offended when I said no! A lot of them have got worse since covid, many never got over being stopped by police at the border during lock down, they even went as far as trying to courier their stuff to their holiday homes and when stopped try to claim that it was a short local journey. Real foreigners are a doddle in comparison

  • It's not all about affordability, it's about attitude, the attitude that say you don't matter but we do and you are here to service our frequently outrageous wishes and pick up all the rubbish we leave behind.

People seem to forget to pack thier manners when they come on holiday

  • I see, yes. This is the trouble when you live in a beauty spot, it was probably affordable when you moved in, but now everyone wants to live there.

  • No, although experience of working in a B&B and Retreat House, taught me that many of the stereotypes about different nationalities has some basis in fact. Americans are either really nice, or really WEIRD, like the woman who'd get up in the middle of the night an move huge heavy bits of Victorian furniture by about 2 inches.
