My husband, who is autistic, is applying for a job within the organisation he already works within. He is fully qualified and experienced, having been in post on a temp. basis. He has been sent the application form and it's completely overwhelmed him as the questions aren't straightforward. The company use a scoring system on applications, so he has to use the right terms and explanations, which he doesn't understand how to do. HR haven't been helpful in the past, saying reasonable adjustments aren't offered until interview stage. Is this legal, or would the Equality Act cover him whilst applying? The job he does contains a high degree of confidentiality, so I am unable to help with this, as I cannot have access to the information, otherwise I'd help write the application. Any advice would be welcome.
