Do I need to be assessed?

I'm rapidly approaching the grand old age of 80 and recently suspected that I could well be autistic. I'm not looking for any financial or official assistance, so is there any need for me to be assessed?

What I really need is advice on how to manage things. I've been struggling a lot for too many years and I'm hoping that now that I may have identified the root cause of my struggles, I may be able to make things easier. Coping day to day shouldn't be this hard.

  • Hi and welcome

An assessment isn’t necessary unless someone wants official support.

For many people understanding themselves better and learning practical coping strategies is enough.

Simply recognising the cause of lifelong struggles can make day to day life easier

I have found this place really useful in an emotional and practical way.

    Hope things improve for you
