Level 1 autism + adhd (audhd)

Hi, i’m an adult now and finally being able to understand myself a bit a better i feel like i’ve found some of the answers, i am awaiting adhd diagnosis but i believe i may also have autism, i come from a background where neurodivergence wasn’t understood but rather labelled as bad egg. I wanted to see what type of 1 on 1 help i can get and who i can contact that understands the topic well as taking the first step always feels the hardest, i just want clarification or more understanding before i start the whole process, maybe even someone to talk to unpack all the stuff i’ve experienced and see how if it fits, basically i just want confirmation i’m not going mad. Currently ongoing cbt but i’m finding it really difficult same with the gp appointment i had to get it, found both really difficult to speak to as it felt less of them trying to understand me and more like they’re judging me.

  • Hey, you’re not going mad!

Therapy was helpful for me, but as I’ve seen on this forum, it doesn’t sound like it works for everyone with Autism. So don’t feel bad if you have to stop therapy or switch providers. Also sometimes it just depends on the therapist you’re working with; Some might work while others don’t.

My advice is to look for a therapist that specializes in Autism or neurodivergence and try that out. I’m not sure, but it might be a little harder in the UK (I’m in America) to find one, but it could be well worth the search.
