  • Thinking, because I can never turn my brain off.

Trying to get my food to go down which is difficult.

Reading the BBC news and wondering why as it's so awful (I had a long break from news).

Coughing, as always - I have a chronic cough.

    Emailing a dear troubled friend.

Wondering whether it would be better to be a cat as they sleep so often and easily and seem content.

    What are you doing?

  • Reading the BBC news and wondering why as it's so awful

When I read BBC news online [every day], I copy urls of positive news into a folder on my bookmarks bar entitled 'heartening stories & pics'; it has 12 sub folders, eg 'acts of compassion', 'bravery', 'joyous acts', 'natural joys', 'perseverance'. If I feel down, I only have to open a folder or two I can see at a glance how many I've collected over time and re-read to cheer myself. There is at least one positive item to be found every day - but I agree you have to search for it!
