CPTSD or autism

Hi,

I'm in the middle of a autism and ADHD assessment (private). I told the assessor that I didn't have an informant before I paid upfront. I hadn't realised how sketchy memories of my childhood were and now she is pushing for me to find someone to gain more information. I have CPTSD but can't remember when the first event happened as I was very young. I didn't want to get my kids and ex husband involved as I wanted time to process the whole thing, whatever the outcome. I have had no contact with the rest of my family for over twenty years. Has anyone else been in this position?  Many thanks.

  • I have both too, I was lucky in that when I was diagnosed it was before all the guidlines about needing an informant came in, I wouldn't have had anyone either, even though both my parents were alive they wouldn't have been good and more likely hostile to the process seeing it as criticism of them and thier parenting than about me. I think quite a few autism researchers and others who work with ND are becoming aware of the limitations of having an informant, esepcially for adults who may have no family or any informants they do have could be hostile.
