Very late diagnosis

I was recently told during PTSD treatment that the therapist thinks I'm autistic. They suggested that I get an official diagnosis for it although couldn't really explain when I asked how that was going to benefit me. I've been divorced for a long time and have always had big problems trying to make friends and keep relationships going. Does anyone have any tips about making and maintaining friends/relationships?

  • Hi

    This sounds like familiar ground.

I like Hergé have joined a few groups.

I have found that I have to join groups that interest me because I think I expect to make friends really quickly and that just does not happen.

If I enjoy the hobby then the friendship is a bonus and it takes the pressure off a little.

    Happy hobby/friend hunting.

  • Thanks for your kind reply. It's good to hear from you. I've always been a loaner who spends most of my free time with my dog (different ones over the years) and a book. I don't have any other families and would really love to have some sort of human connection, but I've tried all sorts of different groups over the years without ever making any friends.
