Taking shoes off to eat

This is a random one but for my whole life I’ve had to remove my shoes before I can eat at home, even the thought of having them on makes me feel weird. I’m perfectly fine when I’m in a restaurant but at home I can’t bear it. Is this an autism thing or just a me thing? I’m on about 6 months into my diagnosis so I’m discovering new things daily that I haven’t realised were “a thing”.

Does anyone else have this or similar?

  • It’s funny isn’t it the rituals we have…. For instance I always “close the door to keep the heat in”automatically as that’s what my family told me to do for my entire life but my ex used to shout at me when I did it “why do you keep closing the door you need to let the heat circulate” it used to drive him mad and I never even knew I was doing it because I was programmed on autopilot to close the door to keep the heat in. guess my house growing up was more drafty than his
