New Year's resolution backfire

My new years resolution is to stop masking and just say what i'm thinking and feeling - well it's been one day and after trying to navigate a conversation that i was avoiding about mould in the bathroom i've landed myself in the midst of a backlash about how i'm trying to cause trouble and that i'm selfish etc etc....... no wonder we mask, i think not doing it is safer! Anyone relate?

  • Yeh I relate but hey I just outgrew the whole masking thing with age and social experience. Autism doesn't last forever. The way I was socially incapable as a child is no longer the case as an adult. Autism gets better with age. Also autism adults mature a few years later from a mental standpoint. Obviously physically autistic adults evolve at the same rate. But I'm talking about mentally in the way of dealing with stress and anxiety this all gets better with age and maturity for some reason. I like autism honestly. What you should do is try and feel comfortable in yourself and be proud of who you are!
