nhs autism report sent to gp

hi all bit of a random question but for those people who had an nhs assessment, was your autism report added to your gp online record or nhs app after it was sent to your gp.  i was told the report was emailed to my gp on or around the 17th december.  ive been checking systemonline and nhs app to see if the report has been added but its still not on there.  im a little worried as the report has some really sensitive information in it and although ive been told it was emailed to gp im worried it was sent in the post and maybe it has gone to the wrong address or got lost in the post, ive been in a panic with worry.  how long would a report normally take to show up on gp online accounts.  thanks

  • i know the community mental health team have received their copy via email and mine came by post.  because report has sensitive info in it i worry.  i wasnt happy about some information being shared to my gp records as it is really private and am hoping the autism service will get it removed.  i know hns share information but you cant decide what you want to be shared if you havent seen it until after.  i will ring gp tomorrow to ask if they have it.  thanks

  • Hi, I was diagnosed by the NHS on 11/06/25, my GP’s surgery filed the report in my records on 14/07/25. I was also emailed a copy and posted a physical copy at about the same time. The documents are also on my NHS app when I log in. The clerical team at the surgery file test results, I’m not sure if the GP even read it.

  • Yes.  But I don't think they added any specific details.  They just got the letter saying yes he is autistic.  I had to get my notes for some reason a bit back and noticed it.

  • It was added to my record at my GP surgery but none of those notes appear on the app for me. I don't see much other than medications and appointment times. Can you see all the notes from appointments on the app? There can also be a gap between a GP surgery receiving a document and adding it to records. They will receive a lot of documentation etc every day. With the shut down for Christmas, I wouldn't be surprised if it's been received but not actioned yet. You are probably best checking with the GP surgery if they've received it. If it was sent by email, it'll be very easy for them to check.

  • I'm pretty sure it will be transferred electronically by a secure system. So it won't be lost in the post.

I gave my private report to my GP. An attachment is shown but is not available for download in the app.

On some of the items it says it can take 2 weeks to appear on your online record. So perhaps they are just slow to add the details.

  • Maybe it will be added in January due to the Christmas and new year holidays? If it was emailed short before the holidays they might have not updated the information yet.

  • Mine was added around a week after I was told it would be so don’t worry it will come through. I think they take a while to write it up

  • I don't think they had an app when I was diagnosed, but the report was sent to my GP, I don't know how long it took. Anything will take a longer time than usual at this time of year, still things should start to get back to normal on Monday once all the Bank Holidays are over.

  • And also, if my replies are slow it is because my account has to have every message approved before it can be posted.

If the email was sent specifically to your assigned GP (an individual), then this is actually better news that you haven’t received a reply yet. Because it means that the report was not sent to a generic admin staff email address at the clinic, because otherwise your report will have already been processed by a non-senior member of staff. Conclusively this means that the email was sent to your assigned GP, the one that you need it to go to, and the person is most likely taking their annual leave, so they have not had time to action the email.

relax, breathe. You’re in safe hands.

  • why don’t you contact the psychiatrist who was in charge of your assessment. You can tell them of your worries, and they can tell you if they posted it, and also you can tell them to read out the exact address that they emailed the report to. If the addresses don’t match, go from there. If they do, then you have nothing to worry about. Also, it is the Christmas period still, many people are taking annual leave. This could be why the report has not been processed or uploaded to your nhs account. Do you have access to your medical records on the nhs app?
