Advice on assessments

Hi,

I'm 42 and recently realised I am autistic as well as ADHD (known since childhood about 11) and am waiting on an assessment through right to choose and someone called Clinical Partners I think? I'm good and life is much better in the sense I know about why i've experienced life like I did etc. But I am a bit nervous about the assessment which hopefully should be next year at some point. Does anyone have any good advice for me with what to expect, what I should do to prepare and what the process is like? Oh and its an adult autism assessment in case that wasn't clear :-)

Many thanks

A

  • Hi,

I was diagnosed with Autism back in June 2025 at the age of 39 and I had my Adult Autism Assessment carried out face to face with CLAAS (Central London Adult Autism Service).

I was actually on the waiting list for over a year and was given the right to choose with Clinical Partners but decided to go with face-to-face though I did wait slightly longer to have the Adult Autism Assessment.

I can tell you that I was asked various questions during the Adult Autism Assessment regarding my history and current living circumstances. Also, my sibling filled out a CAST questionnaire online.

My advice is just to answer the questions as much as you can. Also, there is no need to be nervous as the Assessor is very nice and it is almost like going to counselling.

I wish you all the best for your Autism Assessment and we are always here for you.
