Autism and PMDD

Hi Wave

Hello — I’m seeking literature on the neurobiology of autism (Level 1) and PMDD without pharmacological focus.

Specifically looking for research on:

• neurotransmitter patterns

• hormone–neural network interaction

• micronutrient or metabolic deficiencies

• brain circuitry involved in sensory/emotional regulation

I’m not looking for drug-treatment recommendations. My interest is strictly neuroscience / nutritional biochemistry. If anyone can share peer-reviewed studies, review papers, or citations, I’d appreciate it.

  • I’m seeking literature on the neurobiology of autism (Level 1) and PMDD without pharmacological focus.

This articles covers some of that subject:

    https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9344571/

This preregistered study aims to (a) replicate the findings of Lever and Geurts (2016) and Obaydi and Puri (2008), showing a higher prevalence of PMDD in autistic women, and we hypothesize that autistic women show an increased prevalence of PMDD; (b) explore whether autistic women also experience more/different menopausal symptoms during the menopausal transition, and (c) explore the relation between menopausal symptoms and symptoms of ASC, anxiety, depression, and ADHD.

It may not be focus on the specific areas you ask though.

The specific research areas you ask for will be hard to locate without access to academic research libraries - perhaps some of the people on here with access to these could check these for you.
