Fitting in with big groups

Hi guys,

I joined a new friendship group and it's such a big group, there is 11 sometimes 12 people in the group and my old friendship group mainly had like 4 people. Today, it was such a struggle to be part of the group and get involved and communicate. I kind of just sat by myself in the corner and I had no idea how to join in.

Big groups are really loud and overwhelming for me, especially when I am in a bad mood. But I also don't want to isolate myself and I am friends with some people in the group and I do like them but sometimes it just isn't nice and I feel sad and uncomfortable. And I feel left out a lot.

Does anyone have any advice?

  • Good morning,

    My group I go to is open to all women within a certain area of (location undisclosed);

    I'd made some friends who stick to (4 of us; including me); the group is split as for example Monday evening 6pm-8pm (awkward); or Tuesday 2pm-4pm which I prefer. They don't understand that, some people work shifts.

    Annual Christmas meal is capped to 48 people and at a reduced cost.

    The worst crafted session was the leader trying to explain how to make a Christmas gonk. Think 18 people was bit too much to control and couldn't hear. I would of used craft kits.

    Can you meet up with people in your group for a coffee? 12 people is a lot in a group.
