Have we been typecast?

Just like the Aspiring British Actor gets typecast, upon entering Hollywood, it seems that we've been typecast as Tinpots wearing Lanyards.

We've become the Fast Food Employees at the receiving end of Michael Douglas in 'Falling Down'; all of a sudden. Too nice for our own good.

Makes me appreciate returning to rural settings. Charity does, indeed, begin at home.

I don't wanna be nice. (John Cooper Clarke)

  • I guess  would have the best answer

I interpreted it it that autistic people are being "type cast" by wider society and perhaps themselves as being too nice for their own good and in the case of the film quoted living life according to perceived social rules and not thinking for themselves.

I think the bit about charity beginning at home might refer to being nice to oneself first and getting into rural settings means not having to be in contact with so many other people.

Figure that until  responds the answer might have to wait tho' :-)

  • Eh?

Lyrics from the song "I Don't Wanna Be Nice" by John Cooper Clarke (British performance poet and musician):

    https://genius.com/John-cooper-clarke-i-dont-want-to-be-nice-lyrics

Here he comes now the fast fingers, the expert eyes
And the same old how do you do
Disgust is just his dumb disguise
He wants a word with you
His problems are the end his mouth needs exercise
The last thing I need is another friend I don't want to be nice

I don't want to be nice I think it's clever to swear
Better seek some sound advice better look elsewhere
Your face is an obvious case you shouldn't put it about
This is neither the time nor place to sort these matters out
What you see is what you get you only live twice
A friend in need is a friend in debt I don't want to be nice

We never met before I'm very happy to say
Far from perfect strangers I'd like to keep it that way
I'm not your psychoanalyst I'd rather talk to mice
You're so easy to resist I don't want to be nice
