Flash Fiction

I, recently, made a few attempts at Flash Fiction. Going Ad Lib, based on events which happened at the time. Though I added more meat to the bone.

I could never be a story-teller. Too blunt when talking. However, this could prove a useful vessel for creative expression.

  • I wrote a short story once when I was in secondary school, which I felt quite proud of. There was an English who had just had a fictional book published, so I asked if he would mind reading it and giving me his opinion. If I remember correctly, I think he said the beginning and ending were ok, but the middle was too long and didn't really link up well with the beginning or ending, which made my story confusing. Alas! My bubble burst and I promptly came crashing back down to earth.

The teacher did not go on to have any further books published (as far as I know). Although I had read his book and rather enjoyed it, I don't think it was exactly a success.

  • I'm enjoying reading Raymond Carver's collection of short stories. They're not quite as short as flash fiction  but I like the shortness for a change Slight smileThumbsup
