I just received my ASD diagnosis

So, I got my ASD diagnosis 2 hours ago. I am all in a muddled mess…but I am so glad that I finally have an answer for all that I’ve been through (I’m now in my mid 50s).

I only just joined this online community so…I now have to figure all this out. In any case, I’m very happy to be here in the communityBlue heartBlue heart

  • Hello. It's a strange feeling.

You'll have a mixture of emotions over the next few weeks or months.

Depending on your life story, which is different for everyone, you may have issues dealing with missed opportunities, mistakes, or relationship problems from your past. Integrating this takes time and can be hard.

If you haven't already, you can now look for accommodations that will make your life easier. The biggest thing is being kinder to yourself.

Consider who you want to tell. It is tempting to tell everyone at the start, but just wait a week or two before telling too many people.

  • Hi Stuart. You are so right about wanting to tell everyone.  Because I went to work right after getting my diagnosis, I found myself telling a few people because I was so hyper. It is a strange yet positive feeling.  I really have to figure out how to navigate finally knowing that I wasn't wrong or complicated. I have to figure out how NOT to be sorry for just being me.
