Adult social care

So it’s been almost a week since my self referral to adult social care regarding my needs and needing help t toget photo I’d a bank and somewhere to live and still nothing

to those wondering why I haven’t got a bank i had an issue with my bank years ago where I had an agreeement to pay back an aranaged overdraft to them after I went into an inaranged overdraft that I told them I didn’t want for that exact reason and they only tried to take the money months after the ageeed date so I needed it for bills and yeha they screwed me over so it wnddd up as a debt at my dads home and eventually a barred debt too

this whole thing left me puzzled and confused and frustrated with banking so my partner agreed i was on to withdraw my cash from her bank which worked out well anyway when we lived together

but now faced with living alone after the break up I have no bank and no photo Id ro set one up

what I need of adult social care is the help to transition into indi pendant living so I can live a life that I want to live I don’t want to become stuck in the system for years of having a carrer who doesn’t help me learn new things

  • Dear 190E(Taylor's version),

I am really sorry to hear you are going through such a difficult time. It is really good that you put in the self-referral but I can understand how frustrating and upsetting it must be to have not heard back yet.

I have added our general information on Financial help, money and benefits but I think this may be quite general advice whilst you may benefit from talking to someone who may be able to help you straight away, It could be worth contacting Citizens Advice they have specialist advisors who could be able to help you set-up a bank account and may have ideas on how to fast track getting photo ID.

As well as this I have included our guidance on Social care so that you know what you can expect from this service. It could also be worth phoning your local area social care team and explaining the urgency of your situation- they may not be able to allocate someone to you straight away but may have some links to services that could help. Another option could be phoning your GP as they also have links to local support and advice links that you could access.

I hope some of this is useful and that our online community is able to support you during this tough period.

    Best wishes,

    Olivia Mod
